Plenary

Session Program

Dr Jade Redfern, ACT Health Directorate
Our research program endeavours to determine the molecular events driving brain cancer, and to translate observations from our genetic model systems to the clinic. We have established the clinical-research networks underpinning the Canberra Brain Cancer Collaborative (CBCC). We established the ACT Brain Cancer Biobank (ABCB) as the first Canberra node of Brain Cancer Biobanking Australia (BCBA) to enable the drug discovery pipelines to fast-track efficacious therapeutics to the clinic to improve patient outcomes.
The Rural, Region and Remote Clinical Trials Enabling Infrastructure Program (R3-CTEP) is an MRFF funded partnership between the ACT and NSW designed to deliver increased and more equitable access to clinical trials for 1.8 million people living in rural, regional and remote areas of Southern NSW and the ACT. We aim to achieve this through the implementation of Clinical Trial Support Units with dedicated professional staff, working in a devolved structure to build a skilled decentralised network of partner organisations delivering workforce education and training ,building community awareness and delivering clinical trials as close as possible to the participants’ home.
