ACT research in focus: Keynote Session

Talk Description

Clinical research receives a tiny fraction of government health research funding, and allied health research an even smaller piece of the pie. Despite this, the clinical research that has been designed and executed in Canberra over the past 20 years, with limited local funding, has had an extraordinary impact on clinical practice, not just in Australia but around the world. In this overview, Bernie will showcase the key Canberra-based clinical trials that have influenced international clinical practice in a measurable way, including both intensive care rehabilitation, and lymphoedema management. This talk will highlight the key enablers of this research, and give a sneak preview into the next frontiers where Canberra will be changing clinical practice through its patient-centred research.
